For two weeks a search went on to see If they could not find the missing worms Mr Sparrow was the most zealous worker After the weeks of search were finished the robber was not found At last came a suggestion Why did they not try everyone for the tbeft? The next few days were spent in trying each of the citizens of birdland At last came Mr Sparrow’s turn tyhen the judge went to summon him to court he could not be found A few days later a note came saying he had to leave town suddenly When the people heard this they knew that Mr Sparrow was the guilty person Then one of the birds thought of a plan to bring him back They sent him the following note: “We have caught the thief Hurry home” Mr Sparrow thought Me was surely safe now and he hurried home and asked to see the thief He was led into a cell and as he turned around the warden fastened the bolt and said: “Look into the mirror and you will see the thief” Oh but Mr Sparrow was angry! He raved threatened pleaded but to no use He would only be let out on one condition and that was if he would replace the worms which he had stolen Mr Sparrow agreed to this condition and spent a long long time in repaying the worms to the bank RUTH JENSON Age 13 Delta Utah Did you know that some typea of birds have appendix and unlike the human they are of value to them? |
