This year’s theme was “How I can be a part of the Community Foundation for Ogden Valley,” or “Here’s how I benefit by giving money or time, or both, to help others through the CFOV.” Cash awards of $25 each were awarded to the writers of the ten best essays, as judged by Valley Elementary teachers, along with a Mountain Maggie Check for an additional $25 that the winning students can donate to their favorite CFOV non-profit. The Ogden Valley news will be printing these winning essays in this and upcoming issues of the paper. Congratulation students! More information about CFOV can be found at <cfogdenvalley.org> CFOV By Lacey Argyle How can I be part of the Community Foundation for Ogden Valley? Well, we can help them by cleaning trails and you could donate things, volunteer, attend the things that they do and lots more. So you can help in lots of ways. I have never done it before, but it sounds like fun. For example, one time during the year you go to Wolf Creek and they do a fun event with golf balls and you can earn prizes! So you should help with the CFOV now. They have donated so much stuff to our Valley, and we haven’t thanked them. So if you want to thank them, then go help them. I really want to help them so I am going to start cleaning up the trails that they donated to our Valley so that we stay safe. I am so glad that we have them in our Valley! CFOV By Enya Banks In the 6th grade at Valley Elementary, we clean up the trails. I would like to go a little farther than that. The Community Foundation of Ogden Valley is super cool. There are many things we could do to make it even better. Hopefully, the word will spread and everyone in the Valley will be cleaning up trails and other activities like that. Some things I would like to do is just get the word out. Many people don’t even know about the CFOV. I love going and cleaning up the trails. Making the trails better makes me feel good. Even if I’m just picking up a piece of trash or moving a weed out of the way. I’d really like to build new structures and shelters for all the parks and playgrounds. I see what other people have done, and it makes me want to do more. Hopefully, everyone feels the same way! Valley students clear dyers woad and garbage from North Arm Trail in Eden.
