The alternatives, which surfaced during a Tuesday meeting in the Capitol, include asking the Legislature for an appropriation or writing a law to force the state treasurer to make loans to the hospital. Heber Hunt, a legislative analyst, will report on the cost of the permanent working capital needed, and State Treasurer Linn C. Baker will report on the cost of loaning funds to the hospital on an emergency basis. They will report to Gov. Scott M. Matheson in a few days. During the Tuesday meeting. Dr. David P. Gardner, U. of U. president, said the medical center needs additional working capital because the collection on accounts receivable is slow.
