Show Sundav Music Association Y Names 1978-7- 9 A Mason and Mrs Kenney were named to the honors at the annual fall UMEA awards dinner in Salt Lake City in October The honors are given annually to music educators who have enhanced music education in Utah According to Jean Madsen, UMEA awards chairman. Mason was chosen outstanding music educator because of his lifetime of superlative service in promoting music education in Utah and throughout the world. He has also demonstrated powerful leadership in the field and a high standard of excel-len- c in his own work. She said Mrs Kenney was chosen outstanding elementary music teacher because of her contagious enthusiasm and rich knowledge of music within the framework of elementary education This enthusiasm and knowledge has magnified the musical experience of children all over the state Mason is president of the Music Educators National Conference as well as a BYU music professor.
