Some agency officials said the new chemical spraying technique never has been tried on dioxin, not even in the laboratory, and there is no evidence it will work in practical application. United Press International reported last week the EPA has found the cancer-causin- chemical, g be- e lieved to be the most toxic of compounds, at 14 confirmed sites in Missouri and has a list of 41 other potential sites. it Environmental DeThe fense Fund last week released internal EPA memoranda indicating the agency is considering "repugman-mad- non-prof- nant" measures that clean-u- p would leave the dioxin at levels 10,000 to 100,000 higher than those at Love Canal in New York. The environmentalists said children who played in soil contaminated with dioxin face a cancer risk of between 10 and 30 percent, and adults who regularly inhaled dust at three horse arenas containing the substance face a cancer risk of up to 50 percent. Ms. Gorsuch said the tests would begin at a contaminated horse stable in New Bloomfield, Mo., one of three arenas where 90 horses died from exposure to soil that was sprayed with oil for dust control in the early Tte Getting a new heart, brain or courage was possible in the land of Oz. Only transplanting courage is still out of reach in the real world today. Health care professionals can do amazing things and most of us are very glad they can. But like the Tin Man, the Lion and the Scarecrow, we get really nervous when it comes to asking questions. Even so, it's the best way to take care of you and your family physically, mentally and financially. Take a deep breath, get. the lump out of your throat and ask the Big Question First: "How much is it "Would it be beneficial to get another opinion?" "What will these tests really show, anyway?" Marijuana Users Roll Huge Joint GRONINGEN, The Netherlands Smiling police watched 60 confirmed pot smokers roll a (UPI) marijuana cigarette in of a policeman's confiscation of a joint from a girl on the protest steps of City Hall. "A happy hash smoker causes no one any trouble," a group member said as about watched rette. 200 spectators the group roll the Interiors ciga- An organizer said the cigarette, made in protest of the confiscation of the standard-sizjoint last week, was first offered to police, but they turned it down. It finally was left at a gift table at the City Hall marriage office. "They did not charge her, they just took the joint, which was e ridiculous because everyone knows you can buy grass at the local youth center," the organizer said of the incident last week. "It took 350 cigarette papers, 10 packets of tobacco and a pound of marijuana and the whole thing was rolled on a long table with a wire spiral built in to make it manageable," Hans de Preter, a journalist, said of the giant joint. The organizer said the joint was marimade from rare home-grow- n juana called "Netherweed." Although marijuana is illegal in the Netherlands, police turn a blind eye to cigarettes containing up to 30 grams of the drug, assuming it is for personal use. Highlighting the country's relaxed attitude, the city council in Enschede two weeks ago authorized the town's youth center to sell government-teste- d marijuana to ensure youngsters would get a safe product. ?ioet5l?8H8 a"dKB,ue Shield of Utah have a new program which pays you for using health services more efficiently.
