Springville resident LaRell Johnson is looking for old pictures to be displayed at the Springville Museum of Art during Springvil-le'- s annual Founders' Day celebration in September. Old pictures also will be added to the newly created Springville Historical Society's photo collection. Recently Johnson released a rare e photograph he has preserved of an Springville parade in which he was a participant. He hopes to help get the modern-da- y celebration under way. The time was shortly after Charles p flight across the Lindberg made his Atlantic Ocean in May, 1927, and the event stirred the imaginations of two inventive Springville brothers, Eugene and LaRell DUNCAN HINtS g float Johnson remembers the made an unscheduled stop midway in the parade because the engine of the Model T heated and began to boil under where the small girl was sitting. This bit of memorabilia wouldn't have been preserved had not photographer George taken the time Edward Anderson to record the Johnson brothers' creation in front of his studio. Anderson who died the next spring, documented the photograph with his initials and the date a trait that has helped to make his work nationally recognized. Photos other Springville and Mapleton residents may wish to share should be submitted to the Springville Museum of Art or the Springville Public Library before Sept. 10. Record the photo information on the picture's back in soft pencil and help complete Springville's historical history, says Johnson. prize-winnin- TwiA Bran old-tim- Johnson. The teenagers constructed a replica of the "Spirit of St. Louis" for a float to be entered in the city's Independence Day parade. They built the aircraft on the body of an old Model T Ford out of lumber and butcher paper. CHILI MR.
