(UPI) Allen Sharp barring reporters from talking to Judge jurors in the Joseph Paul Franklin case is being challenged by eight news organizations. Sharp set a Sept. 8 hearing but attorney Richard Cardwell, who represents the organizations, said he would appeal to the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. "First Amendment rights are disintegrating every minute," Cardwell said in arguing the matter should be resolved before Sept. 9. Franklin was acquitted Tuesday of charges of violating the civil rights of Vernon Jordan, who was shot in Fort Wayne in May 1980. Sharp issued his order Tuesday prohibiting reporters from interviewing jurors who are willing to discuss the verdict and how it was reached. - two-mon- th Lebanon. "For a few months after Entebbe everybody was in love with Israel," Larry Goodman said, recalling the 1976 raid to free passengers aboard a commandeered aircraft in Uganda. Goodman, a jew from Chicago, recently escorted a group of fundamentalist Christian ministers through the war zone, a trip approved by Israeli authorities. He said the group found damage to civilian areas of Beirut much less than what they had supposed from watching television in America. Therein lies the key to Israel's endorsement of such trips its image in the United States and elsewhere ravaged by the prolonged invasion of Lebanon. The government and staunch supporters of the invasion are waging a war of their own inside Israeli borders, and beyond, to repair the damage. The foreign press is to especially television blame, many Israeli's say. The rush to transmit pictures of bombed-ou- t buildings and hundreds of civilian casualties has supplanted the Palestine Liberation Organization threat to Israel, thev sav. Police said the bomb was planted under a car owned by Roderick Grant. 55, commercial counselor at the American embassy, but failed to explode when he drove off during the morning. The package was spotted by a suspicous passerby who called police. They sealed off the street and dispatched experts to investigate. Police said the bomb went off as they were trying to dismantle it. More buildings were destroyed during the Lebanese civil war and other internal strife than in the Israeli invasion, he said. "The imagery was glaringly hard on Israel. Where were the pictures of churches and cemeteries desecrated over the last seven years? Where were the stories about what happened in South Lebanon when the Palestinians were in control for seven American-base- d ! jumbi,ib. e; MILD CHEESE Croat tasta years?" These tips were passed on at a recent meeting where some 250 Israelis were briefed for information missions abroad: Remind people about Palestinian threats to destroy Israel. Don't get involved in casualty figures. Tell Jewish audiences the campaip was intended to protect the Jewish population. Tell Christians the army freed the Christians in south Lebanon. Don't tell Americans they also had a Vietnam. Don't present Israel as a country of angels. Don't forget to remember that Prime Minister Menachem Begin won the Nobel Peace Prize.
