Show sky, Function of PR Group: Polish Public Relations A primary function of the Public Relations Committee of the Provo Chamber of Commerce is to boost the Chamber of Commerce and the community "at home and abroad." Two major public functions were arranged, promoted and ruary i, 1970 Sunday Herald 15B handled by trie 1969 committee on assignment from Chamber of Commerce officers, according to N. La Vert Christensen, committee chairman. One was the annual Brigham University-CommunitYoung Banquet and Entertainment held in August. The other was the Annual Banquet of tfce Chamber Friday night, Jan. y 30, 1970. About 325 persons attended the event, including top officials and a general representation of faculty at the university, city officials, and members of the business community. The event is designed to polish relationships between "gown and gown" and create better understanding and mutual appreciation between groups. The Annual Meeting featured the appearance of Rocco Sicilian, undersecretary of com-ferc-e, plus awards and other , traditional activities. The Public Relations Committee carried out a number of additional activities, including: An "early bird breakfast" on a sales and public relations theme featuring a 31m, "The Second Effort" starring Vince Lombardi, professional football manager. An "image" survey to ascertain the Chamber's standing among members, past members, and public. An effort to improve C. of C. communications and upgrade both the monthly bulletin and tourist brochures. The committee consisting of businessmen, educators, industrial men, publicists, representatives of the medical profession, and newspaper personnelmet frequently anod devoted hundreds of man hours to Chamber of Commerce and community service. ty 4 LLL LaVERL CHRISTENSEN Committee Chairman Committees Source of CC Strength Committees are only advisory to the Board of Directors. When a committee has concluded its investigation, it should report its findings and recommendations to the board whose responsibility it is to decide upon the stand that the Chamber is to take. The daily affairs of the Provo Chamber of Commerce are conducted by and through the continuing efforts of the committees. The committee is a work-un- it wth a task to perform. Its strength is determined by the composite qualifications of ' these its members. Chair committees of the Provo Chamber of Commerce represent a broad cross section of the professional, executive and civic leaders of the community. These chairmen give of their time and efforts to recommend and build programs that will make Provo a better place in which to live, work and play. The chairman is the captain and it is his function to inspire and advise the committee members as projects move forward.
