Haigfat, Join Coiaizzi, Dr. Da Cos ia Gark, LeRoy Johnson, David Parks Recreation Committee Offers Guidance on Roads The proposed new highway through Provo Canyon commanded much of the attention of the Parks and Recreation Committee of the Provo Chamber of Commerce during the past year. The committee held meetings with the Utah State Road Engineer, the State Planning Department, Provo City and Utah County CommissioiS, the Orem Chamber of Commerce, Utah Fish and Game leaders and Uinta Forest officials. Recommendations from interested persons were passed on to Ed Loveless, state engineer. The committee was assured mat Rotary Park as well as other parks in the Provo Canyon, would be saved. Road offi LARON AMDRiUS cials also told committee members, beaded by Laron Andrus, chairman, that the old road will be used for hiking and fishing. The chairman and committee members spent many hours on the road plannhg. The committee teels, Mr. Andrus said, that this should not be a high speed road and the recreation area should be preserved for the public. The committee also the opinion that tum-off- s should be included so that ACTRESS the traveling public can stop and view the scenery.
