The weather warms up, and the flowers are blooming. The first grade students are learning about the signs of spring. They were asked to write down what spring means to them. Alex Ashton said, "Spring is people going on hikes." Catie Brunson said, "Spring is the green grass blowing in the wind." Kirsten Stitt said, "Spring is kids flying kites." Brandon Sadler said, "Spring is baby animals being born." We look forward to the sunny days ahead, as we say goodbye to the snow and cold. Internationally acclaimed violinist Valeri Glava presented a wonderful program of music from folk to classical with his violin. He taught the students about rythm, stringed instruments and staying with your dreams in the pursuit of excellence. Valeri conducted the Soviet orchestra performing at the United Nations. At the age 21 he became a professor of violin at the Instute of Arts. He also had his own television show in the USSR. Students delighted in Valeri's unique performance and sense of humor. They listened as he performed Classical numbers fiddling, animal sounds, along with getting the teachers and students involved in a rendition of the chicken dance while he played his violin! Pictured here is the music teacher, Mrs. Gwen Stradling, with Valeri, helping her to play the violin. We were proud of the students behavior and their excitement to share with Valeri their own musical talents. your Iswtetsss t:T m $&y fesfcte wmisli Call s w tea mm$.
