Show Thursday, March 27, 2008 SPRINGVILLE HERALD 17 !HS Billiard Tournament The Springville High School billiards league assembled as-sembled once more over the Easter holiday for the final tournament of their senior careers. The swan song contest was a double elimination excursion consisting con-sisting of six teams. The first blood to be drawn came from the Ken-drick Ken-drick MayLandon Bate versus brothers Kody and Brady Hansen match. Underdogs Un-derdogs May and Bate made their first appearance appear-ance with an unprecedented unprecedent-ed performance by soaring to the semi-finals on back-to-back wins. The Hansens staggered by the upset so much they opted to back out from the tournament gracefully and help out the struggling Easter Bunny to prepare to embark upon his epic journey. jour-ney. The Hansens single handedly saved Easter. On the other side of the board team Roman "Gnome" YoungCollin Ainge battled it out with the Taylor the FoxSweet Caroline Kane duo. Unfortunately Unfor-tunately both teams were distracted and both fizzled out of the tourney rather quickly. Team Young Ainge had a bitter disagreement dis-agreement over who would win in a fight between Star Trek icons William Shat-ner Shat-ner and John Luke Picard that lead to absolute turmoil tur-moil and would eventually lead to their separation. (For those of you wondering wonder-ing Shatner would totally annihilate Picard.) The championship match was comprised of the fierce rivalry of team Andrew WhitingRyan Burrows and Alec WiscombeSamu-el WiscombeSamu-el "Lamoni" Shields. It was a peculiar match because it was the first time these two teams had played each other since Alec's unfortunate unfor-tunate laser beam attack. The encounter had causes immense swelling of his right eyeball. Skeptics believe be-lieve there was some sabotage sabo-tage involved. No one gets attacked by laser beams, only robots. The.trauma led to Alec's fear of bright lights. There was a lot of tension in the final but team WiscombeShields emerged victorious. Team WhiteBurrow was sent to the bone yard. Billiard glory glo-ry will shine on Wiscombe and Shields Villar Award Continued from page 15 greatly be missed as well The "Educated for Success" Suc-cess" award was given to Terry Krieger-James.
