They donate their time at the Springville Museum of Art every Thursday. As March goes out as a lamb - hopefully, we say farewell and tah-tah with one final Irish tale. The setting is Dublin and it is a book about creating delicious food and serving it with style. The "Scarlet Feather" is a catering business busi-ness named for the main characters Cathy Scarlet and Tom Feather. They are a pair of friends who meet in cooking school and are beginning their dream together. to-gether. . The mouthwatering descriptions de-scriptions will make you hungry so be sure to have a bowl of Irish stew on the table by your elbow as you read. Or, if you choose to listen to it on CD as I did, you'll want something more portable to munch on - corned beef on rye? Binchy's books are a very good choice for listening lis-tening since the Irish accent ac-cent helps bring her many characters to life. The plot is slowly drawn out at times, yet rushed at others oth-ers but still enjoyable. It is also predictable but that is part of the charm. This is a book that doesn't make you work hard to read it. It is a fairly long book and runs about 20 hours unabridged on CD. It took me a couple of weeks to complete since I listen in the car on the way to work, walking and in the kitchen while cooking cook-ing - I know I will never be a caterer after reading "Scarlet Feather". This novel follows the lives of Cathy and Tom and their extended families fami-lies from one New Year's Eve to the next. As they struggle to establish their upscale catering busi- Mapleton now has an animal control officer Mapleton City now has an animal control officer who will be proactive in the enforcement of animal laws. They will be enforcing enforc-ing the city and state ordinances ordi-nances involving animals. Mapleton has a lot of dogs running loose in the city. These dogs will now be picked up and possibly impounded to the Animal Shelter. The owner of the dog will be cited, pay a fine, and any and all impound im-pound fees. Members of Cathy's family include her workaholic worka-holic barrister husband, Neil; the precocious nine-year-old twins, Maud and Simon, who are temporarily temporar-ily in and out of Cathy's care; her dad, Muttie, who is a loveable gambler; and her kind mother, Lizzie, who was once the house-cleaner house-cleaner for her snobbish mother-in-law. There are many more characters that bring their personalities into the melting pot of "Scarlet Feather". Maeve Binchy creates heartwarming characters and a story to take you off to Ireland for a brief visit. This novel is good entertainment enter-tainment and a nice light read for sitting outside in the spring sunshine. Next year I may review some Shakespeare - to celebrate the Ides of March instead of St. Patrick's Day.
