The BLM office is open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A wildlife, self-guided self-guided auto tour is available along with two primitive campgrounds, camp-grounds, one at the swinging bridge and the other south of the bridge and off highway 318. The refuge is open to different types of hunting during established estab-lished hunting seasons on certain parts of the land including deer, ducks and rabbits. A hunter should check with the refuge office of-fice regarding the open areas and season dates. Three historic sites are located on the refuge, the Lodore Hall, the winter quarters of the 2 Bar Ranch and the White Indian Contact Point, also known as Ft Davy Crockett. Approximately two miles north of the Brown's Park school and entrance into the Lodore Ranger Station, a traveler can find a road that leads to the Brown's Park store, owned and operated by Joy and Fred Blevins, long time Brown's Park residents. At that site, one can find the private Bassett family cemetery. Access to the cemetery can be obtained by permission from the Blevins. Brown's Park offers a full day of historic experience to a traveler. travel-er. To get to Brown's Park, the easiest route is to travel east on U.S. highway 40 approximately 100 miles to the junction of Colorado highway 318, just west of Maybell, Colo. Turn north on 318 and follow the highway about SO miles to the south end of Brown's Park. Follow the highway north and follow the signs to the refuge and farther north to John Jarvie Ranch.
