Grand opening for the facility at 350 east 200South will be The Grand Opening of the Western Park will be on Saturday, June 29, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 4. p.m. The ribbon cutting will be a noon in front of the convention center. LL Governor Val Oveson will cut the ribbon with the help of the Western Park Board and the DinahMites. The opening program will begin be-gin with a flag raising ceremony by the National Guard, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Maddy Nielson. After the ribbon cutting, Oveson will give remarks, after which Commissioner Lorin Merrill will speak. Architects, contractors, commissioners and others involved in-volved in the project will be recognized. rec-ognized. Hot dogs and pop will be served for 50c from the south concession stand. Entertainment will continue during the afternoon. after-noon. In the convention center. Kids are Music will perform, followed fol-lowed by Marcie Dyke and Melinda Carroll. Barbara Hatch will do an indian dance and Linda Richards will perform. Performing in the amphitheater will be Kenny and Casey Caldwell, Lenyce Mott, Shirla Sullivan, Everett Derekson, Ken Miller, and ancy.Bostiqk and Marty Combs. On the patio at 11 am. the Blue Grass Band under the direction of Wendy Long will perform and from 3:40 to 4 p.m. the High Uintah Cloggers will be performing. perform-ing. The Cowboy Poetry society will be reading in the museum. In the indoor arena several equestrian events will fill the afternoon. af-ternoon. The Women's Barrel racing Futurity will begin at 9:30a.m. in the new outdoor arena and will continue throughout the day. The entertainment was arranged ar-ranged by Marie Yoder, Rolene Allen and Diana Cook. Every half hour during the afternoon af-ternoon a prize will be given away. The prizes are worth several sever-al hundreds of dollars. A one man show featuring Valoy Eaton's work will open the Western Heritage Museum. Winners of the Western Art Competition will be announced at 11 a.m. The Eaton show and the art competition will hang through July. The museum will also feature items donated by many local people peo-ple who are interested in preserving preserv-ing the Basin's heritage. - The Outlaw Trail Quilt show will be seen in the Convention Center and will also be open on July 4, 5 and 6. The grand opening is under the chairmanship of Nyle Bigelow of the Western Park Board. Other members of the board have assisted as-sisted in the arrangements. The amphitheater located east of the convention center, will host the opening night of the Outlaw Trail Theater on July 4. Robert Peterson will be making a guest appearance that evening.
