A v . l Happif 40th Birthday to Phil Timothy! from your family RECORDING STAR, Eddy Raven, will host and star in the Intermountain True Value Showdown finals during the Uintah County Fair in August. Raven is a song writer and . performer. Eddy Raven to host this year's Showdown finals The Uintah County Fair will host the Utah State TrueGMC Truck Intermountairi Showdown finals. The showdown will be in the Western Park on August 10. The local lo-cal True Value Showdown competition competi-tion will be in the parking lot of True Value Hardware on July 10, the night before the opening of the 'Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo. Joe Evans, show producer, announced that Capital recording star, Eddy Raven will host and star in the two and one-half hour show. Raven hasn't always aspired to be a singer and performer. In the beginning begin-ning Raven's dream was to be a songwriter. In an interview with KNEU radio, Raven said that he figured fig-ured he could make more money as a songwriter, without the hassles that come from being a star. "I thought I could reach more people if I wrote ten songs recorded by ten different artists than if I recorded them all." Raven said he began recording his songs because other artists were not. "When I had something some-thing I thought was a hit and no one else would record it, I decided to do it" To name, but a few number one songs, written and recorded by Raven include, "I Got Mexico," "A Little Bit Crazy," and "Sometimes A Lady." His current album, "Temporary Sanity," has already produced several hit songs including includ-ing "In A Letter To You," "Island," "Bayou Boys," and "Zydeco Lady." Without apologies to the Nashville establishment, and in his current road show, Raven uses steel drum-tinged drum-tinged Caribbean sounds, latin rhythms and Zydeco, laced with a little rock and roll. That's not to say he has forsaken country hits such as "Thank God For Kids" and "Mexico." Evans said that this is a variety show aimed at all ages. TRfAT YOURSELF BETTER.
