Festival of the Arts Hundreds of Uintah District students participated in a very successful suc-cessful week of activities during the Festival of the Arts for the Young, according to a report from the festival chairman, Rhoda DeVed. The final events took place May 10. Mrs. DeVed said that all the schools scheduled a variety of events to share with the public, and in addition, addi-tion, artists from the surrounding communities brought their special skills and talents into the schools to share with the students. School representatives to the festival planning committee were Boyd Redden, Lynda Giese, Berkley Hall, Kathy Jones, Fran Emery, Janelle Leonard, Kave Adams, Marilyn Sanderson, Charles Murphy, Estella Richens, Marlene Lake, Brock Thome, Reed Hansen, Aaron Hansen, Myrtle Hansen, Patricia Blair, and Patti Hortin. Mrs. DeVed said the festival has been an annual celebration of the arts in the Uintah School District since 1976 when all schools participated par-ticipated in the musical "Our Country Coun-try Tis of Thee." "It was decided to hold the events in the individual schools this year, rather than having the schools combine com-bine in programs at Vernal Junior High auditorium. Since the new format for-mat has been so successful, we will probably continue with this design," Mrs. DeVed stated. 4 ' - In, 3 4 . -I a. -. , - , is sale, race meet, golf tournament and other local activities, when they are not busy dancing.
