Layton hung tough to force the Vikings to play their best. When the dust cleared, the Vikings racked up win number six with a 5-4 victory over Layton. Viewmont fights for win six Leads region baseball race Viewmont was down 4-1, but managed to come back near the end of the game. The Vikings have fought back to win several times this season. Jason Jarvis, came in to pitch the last batter of the last inning, and drove in the last two RBI's including in-cluding the winning run. Eric Bright turned in an outstanding outstan-ding performance at short stop with three double plays. "Many players have contributed to our success this year. It has really been a team effort," said Bender. By JOHN W.CANNON The Viewmont baseball team fought back Friday to squeak past Layton 5-4. The Vikings have climbed to first place in Region One with a record of 6-1. "We played O.K. I guess," said coach Wade Bender. "It was one of those games where we won a tough one on Tuesday, and then we had to try and get up again for Friday," he said. Bender explained that pitcher Greg Clark was not strong in the game. "He has performed really well for us this year, but before the game he told the pitching staff that he just didn't feel strong." Junior Shane Cullimore was brought in after the first three innings, inn-ings, and pitched most of the remainder re-mainder of the game. |
