Show Host families needed "We thank you for your service had been taken care of our daughter. When we knew that our daughter was treated as a member of your family, we were surprised at your sincere goodwill. 'We had had prejudice for Cultural Homestay Institute is looking for youth-oriented families to host high school exchange students from Japan, Brazil and Germany for the 1990-1991 school year. The motto, "Open your home to the world-the world becomes your home' describes the experience of inviting an exchange student into local homes as a new family member. Host families gain not only a new view of the world, but also a fresh look at and appreciation for their own country and culture. Students arrive in mid-August and return home the end of June. They come with medical coverage and spending money. Host families are asked to provide room and board. For each exchange student who attends an American high school, an equal number of students from that school will have the opportunity to attend school tutition-free in Japan, Germany or the Soviet Union. Cultural Homestay Institute (CHI) believes this kind of exchange will have a great impact on the world's future. The foUow-u ing letter illustrates the kind of understanding and attitude shift that results from this international exchange. 'Dear Host Family, America and Americans. Because I had ever taken part in Pacific Ocean War, and I had experienced evilness of war, too. The other, my wife, had been injured by Atomic Bomb, and her health isn't well now. "If my daughter had not had a chance to visit your family, probably prob-ably our feelings to America and Americans wouldn't change nearly. Now we can trust American goodwill good-will through your word and deed to our daughter. I think it important for people in various nations to know better each other to coexist peacefully. Our daughter's visit to country and your family taught it to us. In this meaning we must thank you. We wish you are happy and peaceful in now and in the future. Your Sincerely, Akigi Okada "P.S. Writing using a dictionary, the sentences may be many wrong places. Please pardon me."
