Show Recycled aluminum hits all-time high SALT LAKE CITY-Utahns joined with recyclers from all across the country to recycle a record 60.8 percent of all aluminum cans produced in 1989, according to recently released industry figures. The USA's 60.8 percent recycling recycl-ing rate shows a significant gain over national aluminum can recycling recycl-ing totals of 50.5 percent in 1987 and 54.6 percent in 1988. The 20th anniversary of Earth Day and ever-increasing ever-increasing concern for the environment envir-onment could help make 1990 another an-other record-breaking year for recycling. In Utah, consumers recycled more than three million pounds of cans with Reynolds Aluminum Recycling Company, receiving some $1.35 million for their efforts, said Charles R. Johnson, UtahIdaho area business manager. Including all forms of aluminum, Utahns recycled more than four million pounds of the metal at Reynolds and were paid approximately approx-imately $1.8 million in return. Reynolds operates three recycling recycl-ing sites in Davis County. They are located in Bountiful, Layton and Clearfield. |
