Show Low unemployment rate in Davis County nonfarm jobs across the state, that is a new record. And Davis County's growth in its labor force, now at 82,000, a seven percent gain, and number of jobs in the county, at nearly 57,000, are thought to be records. Over the last month, no major industries in-dustries have lost jobs compared to a year earlier. Hard-hit mining, construction con-struction and manufacturing all showed "moderate, if not strong' employment growth, he explained. CLEARFIELDDavis County and Utah's unemployment rate is low enough that economists are terming the situation, "full employment." The latest available figures indicate in-dicate a 3.9 percent jobless rate for the state, and just slightly higher than that for Davis County, at four percent, said Jack Bailey, Clearfield Job Service manager. "With 31,000 Utahns out of work, and about 2,700 in Davis County, the unemployment rate is the lowest of the decade," Mr. Bailey said. In fact, the state's jobless rate is about one-and-one-half percentage points below the national average. "Most who are currently unemployed are either between jobs, just entering the job market, or have skills that do not match those required by current job openings," he continued. Some preliminary information in-formation indicates there could be a temporary labor shortage for many lower-paying jobs, a shortage that could bid up the wages for such positions.
