Show Training breeds togetherness Fitness strengthens family ties if family members support each other without competing, says an Arizona State University researcher. Dr. Charles B. Corbin offers these start-up tips for a family program: pro-gram: - Share responsibilities and planning. plan-ning. - Start slowly and keep it fun. - Keep a fitness log. - Aim for three times a week, and try the workouts that suit your family fami-ly best: - Calisthenics before dinner. - A family walk, jog, or bike ride. Slower members start early and all members move at their own speed. - Aerobics and jumping rope to music. - A family exercise course in the basement or backyard. Games are fine but scores are not, unless they are family scores, says Corbin. "You're interested mostly in the process sharing or pulling together not the product. ' ' |
