Show Davis High FBLA learns about natural disasters By BECKY QUIST Davis High Club FBLA, (Future Business Leaders of America) is becoming aware of natural disasters. Their main project this year, Project BOND, (Beware of Natural Disasters), is helping the community to become aware of what to do in case of fire, earthquakes earth-quakes and floods. The FBLA officers decided to do this project after the earthquake occurred oc-curred in California. The club realized real-ized that people really have no idea what to do when these situations occur. Most often people panic, which is definitely the wrong thing to do. In order to help the community, FBLA members formed committees to find information of fires, floods, and earthquakes. A small booklet has now been printed and distributed. Since little children also need to know this information, FBLA members traveled to the elementary schools in the community and gave presentations to the third graders. Club members performed skits demonstrating concepts with the characters "Dangerous Dan" and "Master of Disaster." A game was played and a word search handed out to instill the information into the children's minds. FBLA president, Emily Bess-inger, Bess-inger, and service projects vice president, Tammie Boudewyns, will also present the project to the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. |
