Show Valentines and Vykelles at Viewmont By TATE VIEHWEG I'm cured, I just got back from the doctor and my writer's block has been busted. Now this column will virtually spew forth with knowledge and valuable information. Currently at Viewmont High School, a group of daring and brave young souls have established what has become known in familiar modem slang as a snowboard club. This was organized by a senior, Travis Hodgeson, (no relation) who, with hard work and dedication finally realized his goal of uniting the haphazard souls of the slopes. The club has received worldwide acclaim in their pursuit of excellence in their chosen activity. They have received several sponsors spon-sors throughout the community, and receive complimentary discount rates at various locales along the Wasatch Front Congratulations to the Vykelles for their impressive showings in three previous competitions. At the Bountiful High Invitational, the Vykelles walked away with a second se-cond place trophy in the category of military. At the drill competition recently at the Salt Palace, they placed similarly in two categories. Two weekends ago at Weber High, the Vykelles competed in the military and dance divisions, placing plac-ing second in dance, and third in military. We are proud of them. Tonight, they compete at Bountiful High in the region competition in hopes of qualifying for the state competition which will be held later this month. Good luck girls. Coming up very soon is the Valentine's Val-entine's dance at VHS. The dance is sponsored by the sophomore class. The tickets to the dance can be purchased pur-chased at the door or during lunches at VHS. The dance will be casual attire. Those who wish to attend are welcome. By the way, the date for this dance is Feb. 10. |
