Show i vS divers o raise funds for M.S. ; HEBER VALLEY TThe skies over Heber Valley will again be filled with color June 20 and 21 as approximately 75 skydivers from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming converge on the . Heber Airport to help raise money for the Utah Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. i Skydive Together for MS. is a two-day jump marathon thought to - be the first of its kind in the coun- ) try. Participating skydivers secure i pledgers willing to donate money 1 for each jump the diver gets in dur- ing the two-day event or for the total vertical feet they dive. The jumpers will also offer tandem parachute rides to spectators spec-tators with the proceeds going to the event Skydive Together for MS is the idea of John Lopore Ortis. After being be-ing diagnosed with MS in July 1988, Ortis wanted to take an active part in raising money for multiple sclerosis research. With the help of fellow skydivers and corporate sponsors, the first Skydive Together for MS was held last year. The event was a great success and began what Ortis hopes to be a continual fund-raiser for the M.S. Society. The event is open to the public and spectators are invited to join the skydivers at the Heber Airport Gates will open both days at 8:30 a.m. There is no charge for admission, admis-sion, but donations will be accepted on behalf of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Refreshments, including hamburgers ham-burgers and hot dogs, will be available for spectators at the airport. |
