Show Utah Opera seeks signactors for 'L'Enfant' Utah Opera will hold auditions for signactors for the production of "L'Enfant" -an opera that will be presented for hearing impaired in elementary schools this coming year-and "Hansel and Gretel." Actors and actresses must be fluent in American Sign Language and can be hearing or partially hearing impaired or deaf. L r r Auditions will be held in the Capitol Theatre on Wednesday, July 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Actorsactresses must bring a prepared musical piece to sign which is 1 to 2 minutes in length. An accompanist will be provided. Interested persons should call Darleen at Utah Opera for an ap- r - L pointment at 534-0842. During the coming school year, "L'Enfant" is scheduled to be performed per-formed in elementary schools throughout Davis County and the rest of the state where hearing impaired im-paired children attend. Deaf and hearing impaired children have been integrated into public classrooms, and the production produc-tion will be performed in these classrooms or for the entire school depending on the number of impaired im-paired children enrolled. Utah Opera will present the full-length full-length "Hansel and Gretel" in December using its shadow interpreted inter-preted technique. Each singer onstage will be paired with a sign actor dressed in an identical costume who will physically and facially portray the role using American Sign Language. |
