Show Maori (Te Rai O Rahiri) visit August 9, Wednesday 7:30 a.m. Breakfast at Mueller Park hosted by Lions Club. 9 a.m. Meet host families 10:30 a.m. Leave for capitol building. 11 a.m. Official greeting, Governor Norm Bangcrter at the state capitol building. Afternoon open with host family. 6:30 p.m. Arrive Trappers game at Derks Field. Gary Blodgett PA announcements. August 10, Thursday Morning Breakfast with host family 9 a.m. Arrive at WX High for rehearsal. After rehearsal, Job Corps tour. 4:30 p.m. Pick up at Job Corps by host families. 6 p.m. Arrive at WX High for concert 7 p.m. Maori Cultural Concert in full Maori costume. Military presentation, Dean Hill to present a large stale flag to Mayor Ryan. The Maori group presents an outstanding performance, having won second place honors in the 1988 National Maori Cultural Championships Champion-ships in New Zealand. Tickets at Bountiful Rec Center, $3 single, S10 family. August 11, Friday ' Morning Breakfast with host family. 12 noon Lunch at Tabernacle hosted by Bountiful Stake. 1:30-3 p.m. The Whangarei Sister City Maori Group will be demonstrating Maori arts and culture. Maori basket weaving: by a young Maori expert, using genuine flax material brought over from New Zealand. Maori stick game: "Ti Ti Torea." Your chance to learn new twists to this international favorite Maori cultural game. Moari Poi Dancing: how to twirl a ball on a string and how to make " your own poi ball. Materials required for-making balls will be available. Maori Waiata: (songs) Maori songs and dances will be demonstrated and taught. Maori History; Will be presented in legends, songs, and dances.
