Show Lagopn asks Farmington to onsideFezone request FARMINGTON - Wednesday evening, the Farmington City council coun-cil again considered a rezone request re-quest submitted by Lagoon Corporation. Cor-poration. Once again, the council failed to make a decision, referring the matter to the planning commission commis-sion for further study and recommendations. recom-mendations. - Lagoon's request tp change land owrtcd by them and currently zoned B-2 to C-R was tabled several months ago. Since that time, Lagoon has been working with Leisure Lei-sure and Recreation Concepts, Inc. of Dallas and other consultants to develop a master use plan for the property. This cannot progress until Lagoon knows what Farmington City will allow in the area. The council approved a lengthy motion that has four major parts. First, the council will meet jointly with the planning commission to - give the commission a feel for their assignment regarding" zoning ' changes and master plans for ft CONTINUED ON PAGE 2 Lagoon rezone CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 Lagoon. Second, the planning commission ' will have the responsibility of studying stu-dying the issue of the Lagoon master plain. They will look at the impact from a county and state water engineering standpoint of rerouting the creek, developing parking if Lagoon uses the property in question as a buffer zone which could include ball fields and other public recreation areas and providing pro-viding adequate noise barriers. Third, the planning commission will deal separately with the question ques-tion of closing Lagoon Lane. Finally, Final-ly, the city staff will coordinate the proceedings between planning : commission, Lagoon and ther city council. When the planning commission is ready to make a recommendation, two public hearings will be held at the city council meeting. One will consider the Lagoon rezone request and master plan and a second hearing hear-ing will address the question of closing Lagoon Lane. |
