Although the city has made efforts to provide ample parking, crowds of shoppers circled city blocks several times to secure a parking space. City officials were excited to see the crowds and are looking forward to another busy weekend. V BOUNTIFUL - Downtown merchants are raving about Bountiful Boun-tiful Sidewalk Days' sales last weekend. And they have another weekend to strut their wares. Bountiful Sidewalk Days will continue Thursday, Friday and Saturday Sat-urday - but probably on a smaller scale than last weekend. Sales this veekend will tie in with the traditional tradi-tional Festival U.S.A., an arts and crafts' show being conducted at the Bountfiul LDS Tabernacle. "It was the best Sidewalk Days ever," was a familiar response of several downtown merchants. "We had more people buying and sold more last weekend than any other Sidewalk Days celebration." Some merchants, however, indicated in-dicated that they would not carry out a full-scale sidewalk sale this weekend, but that they would have in-store sales all three days. One Main Street merchant said her street sales were good, and in-store in-store buying was "the best it has, ever been." Another merchant said she "had never seen business so good. We, should have a sidewalk sale every week." A representative of the Sidewalk Days' promotion said "the crowd was steady all three days with Friday Fri-day and Saturday being the -best. There's no question about it, the sales were a booming success." Other merchants felt that the sales were more successful because - the project was not tied in with an- r other event. , , , .
