Show Vievwriont represented Bntfl., Cntrvl. & U.S. in Edmonton DeaV Editor and Fred Roe: . Before you write to the editor criticizing the local bands, I think that you should find all the facts. Had you done your homework before you wrote your letter, you would know that Viewmont has the only summer band program of the three local high schools. . If you want the high school bands to support sup-port the community, you should first support the bands. Stop cutting off the necessary funds and you will have local bands' clamoring to participate par-ticipate in your parade. The district has decided that summer bands must be self-supporting! This means that in order to have a high school summer band, the students must pay for all costs including the director's salary. 1 Viewmont has an excellent reason for not performing in the Bountiful Handcart Days Parade. We were representing Bountiful and Centerville and the United States of America in Edmonton, Canada (and doing it very well). The experience and funds gained in Canada far outweigh those to be gained here. I suppose we could have stayed here for the local parades but it would have been at the expense of the coming year's program.
