Show Clyde opposes student seat on council Edward W. Clyde, chairman of (lie Institutional Council, said Thursday he was against having a student on the Council. Mr. Clyde said, "It would be a definite conflict of interest." In explaining his argument, he pointed out that he resigned from his position as lecturer in the College of Law when lie was chosen for the council, the Board of Regents, because of this "obvious "obvi-ous conflict." "A student should not have a vote on things that would affect his pocketbook like tuition any more than a faculty member should have a vote in increasing his salary," Mr. Clyde continued. The student liaison commit tecs to the council, he said, should give the students plenty of voice in the administration of the school. He did favor a recent graduate on the council, however. "A recent graduate could easily relate with students and argue their point of view without being personally per-sonally influenced by li is votes."
