Show Challenge '69 Committee Releases Surveys Preferences To Students (2) In your everyday life, which problem preoccupies you the most? (3) In which national or international interna-tional issue do you feel most personally per-sonally involved? (4) Who would you like to hear speak during Challenge Chal-lenge Week next year? (5) At which time of day would you prefer to attend Challenge Week activities? and (6) In what way would you like to see Challenge Week improved? The steering committee has also gone to faculty members and gotten got-ten suggestions from them. "Their suggestions and comments have been really valuable to us," said Christensen. Concerning the failure of past programs, Christensen gave three reasons. "First, there has been poor publicity," he stated, "not only for the University but for the general community." He also believes that better coordination co-ordination between other events and classes must be attained. Finally, Christensen said that many speakers in the past have been very distinguished in their fields, but have not been well known. He concluded, "There's no sense , in limiting the program. It's appeal ap-peal should be both to the students and the general community." Next year's Challenge Program has been scheduled for the week of April 7-11. To gather the opinions of Univer. - sity students toward preferences for Challenge Week '69, the Steering Steer-ing Committee of Challenge is distributing dis-tributing survey sheets to selected groups of students. According to Steering Committee member Danis Christensen, "We want to get the ideas of students. We would like to know what they would support and who they want to see during the next Challenge Week program." He said that approximately 1000 survey forms have or will be distributed dis-tributed to groups that represent all areas of the campus. This is the first time a survey like this has been taken, said Christensen. Chris-tensen. "We'll mold next year's program to this year's survey results," re-sults," he added. Concerning immediate goals, Christensen stated, "The one thing we want is to zip up the program. We'll be doing some basic remodeling. remodel-ing. We want to give the program a new life." Six Questions The questionaire asks six questions:' ques-tions:' (1) have you changed your opinion on a national or personal issue this year? If so, what issue? |
