Show Choral Concert Scheduled Maestro Abravanel conducting. Soloists for the evening will be Blanche Christensen, Christina Po-litis, Po-litis, Thomas East and Don Watts. With the exception of East, who is a newcomer to Utah, all have previously pre-viously performed as soloists with the Utah Symphony. The Chichester Chiches-ter Psalms also calls for the voice of a shepherd boy, which will be sung by Gordon Ottley, a student at Granger High School. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 is probably the most loved of all orchestral-choral works. It was completed com-pleted in 1824 with first performance perform-ance in Vienna under Beethoven's baton. Whereas modern audiences consider this symphony by itself a fairly full musical evening, it was one of four works performed at that premiere. The Chichester Psalms was commissioned com-missioned for its summer music festival by the Cathedral of Chichester Chich-ester in England, hence the name. . . It was performed there on July 31, 1965, as originally written for male voices only. First performance, however, was a revised version for mixed voices in New York City on July 15, 1965, with composer Leonard Bernstein conducting the New York Philharmonic. Tickets for this final concert for 1967 are on sale at the Utah Symphony Sym-phony box office at 55 West 1st South, telephone 328-5626, and at ZCMI Downtown and Cottonwood.
