Show Vets Offered School Aid By 1966 Act Veterans who served on active duty with the armed forces after Jan. 31, 1955 can receive up to $150 a month to help with then-education. then-education. Under the Veterans' Readjustment Readjust-ment Benefits Act of 1966 a veteran vet-eran who has served continuously continuous-ly on active duty for at least 181 days, any part of which occurred after Jan. 31, 1955 is eligible for educational assistance. Veterans discharged or released before 181 days due to service-connected disabilities may also receive benefits. Applications To obtain financial aid a veteran veter-an must apply through the Veteran's Vet-eran's Administration Office or through the Veterans' Certifications Certifica-tions Office, Room 106 Park Building. After receiving a certificate cer-tificate of eligibility in the mail the applicant must bring the form to the Park Building where the certificate will be filed and a copy will be sent to the V.A. Office. It will then send a card which must be certified monthly in the Park Building Dffice before the student can receive re-ceive pay. Veterans can receive one month of educational benefits for each month or fraction of a month of active duty. The limit, however, is 36 months and the program must be completed ivithin eight years after the in dividual's last discharge or within with-in eight years after June 1, 1966. Allowances will depend on the amount of hours an individual takes and the number of his dependents. |
