Show A DAY IN MILFORD HIGH I pushed my way through the crowd. Oops! There went my history book. Now I wonder if I can get over to pick it up. Ahh there I have it. That was ea . . darn, my workbook! Now I have it, but I don t see why someone had to tear the cover off. Say why are there so many around the door? Oh, there is an announcement on the board. T. . h. .e. .r. .e. . (someone moves his head) is an assemb. . (a head is in the road) . . 1st period. I struggle on down the stairs, and get to my locker before I collapse. (We now pause for a few tries to open the combination lock.) I f'nally give up and .turn to go. My locker mate is standing behind me. A grin, a few flips of the wrist and lo! it's open. We store our books and head for the auditorium. We are now seated, and while wait'n.a, we blow bubbles, read comic books, litter the floor with scraps of paper, and fight. English is coming to a close; it is hot and drousy. The bell rings and we all leave. : .all but Bobby, that is, he really must have had a night. Soon the last bell clangs and the kids go down the steps, loaded load-ed with books they won't look at until tomorrow. It's like the man said, "It's all in the day's school." Ravonne McKnight |
