Show U. P. CONDUCTOR DIES AT 59 IN CEDAR CITY William Benjamin Gardner, 59, conductor for the Unian Pacific Railroad Co. for more than 25 years, died early Saturday in a local hospital of a cerebral hemorrahage. He had been ill about four days and was stricken while on duty at the local railroad rail-road yards. Mr. Gardner was born in Iowa on June 18, 1889, a son of Edwin K. and Emma Trueblood Gardner. Gard-ner. He married Margaret DE-vault DE-vault Storey on Jan. 8, 1921. - He had worked at railroading most of his adult life, and, for a number of years, was assigned to the Salt Lake City-Milford division of the Union Pacific prior to coming here. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and had been active in Utah Masonic circles for a number of years. He was also a member of the Milford V. F. W., and had served two terms on the Milford Town Board. He had been a member of the Order of Railway Rail-way Conductors for 26 years. He is survived by his widow of Cedar City; a stepson, George btorey, Needles; four brothers and sisters, Mrs. Maude Watkins, Mena, Ark.; Mrs Florence Pipkins, Pip-kins, Shreveport, La.; Ed Gardiner, Gar-diner, Hannah Alberta, Can., and Arthur Gardner, Fayetteville, Ark. Funeral services were conducted con-ducted Wednesday from the Masonic Ma-sonic temple in Salt Lake City, and burial was at the Masonic plot in Salt Lake City. |
