Show Art City Amateur meet opens Saturday ' 'jjl Golfers 128 strong will tee off in the second annual Art City Amateur Golf Tournament Tour-nament Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6 at the Hobble Creek Golf Course. Defending champion of the 3G hole tournament is Paul Langager of Orem who will be back to defend his title again' this year. He won the playoff against Max Fillmore in a climatic cli-matic finish. The 36 hole event will have four flights and will be limited to the first 30 paid entries in each flight. First place in each flight will win $200; second, $150; third, $100; fourth, $60; fifth, $40: sixth, $30, and seventh, $20. A strong championship flight competing for the handsome traveling trophy the largest in the state includes some top players headed by Paul Langager or Orem, former winner; win-ner; Chris Harwood, Salt Lake. City; Glen Hatch, Provo; Reed Goodliffe, Brigham City and University of Utah player. Others are Lyman Tracy, Jack Ridd and Arlen Peacock. Trophies in each of the flights will be presented the winner and are being sponsored by Thorn's Construction, Ruff Garage, Rusty Nail Piza Parlor Par-lor and Bart's Catering. Sonny Braun, golf professional and, Ray Klauck, assistant, are in charge of the second annual meet. 1 AWAITING WINNERS Ready to be plucked off the green are these handsome trophies overlooking beautiful Hobble Creek Golf Course as they await their respective takers in the Second Annual Art City Golf Tournament opening Saturday and concluding Sunday at the golf course. The center trophy is the largest trophy awarded in the state and is a traveling type going to the champion of the meet. Each of the other "four will also go to the winners In the four flights. Paul Langager won the meet last year, and competition is expected to be keen again this year. |
