Show Board discusses long range plans The Nebo School Board is awaiting word from Governor Calvin Rampton concerning a possible solution to the dilemma dilem-ma the Nebo School District and other districts are in concerning con-cerning the issuance of tax anticipation an-ticipation notes. Under a law passed by the last legislature, cities may pay in excess of five percent interest inter-est on bonds and notes. However, How-ever, there was no mention in the law of school districts, so they are bound by an earlier law which prohibits payment of over five percent interest. With the increase in the prime interest rates, interest bid on $1,500,000 in tax anticipation anti-cipation notes was over the five percent limit. Nebo Superintendent Super-intendent Joe A. Reidhead told the schoolboard that an Attorney Attor-ney General's opinion is being sought concerning the problem. prob-lem. He painted out that Nebo District needs $1,500,000 in funds to operate the district until tax money is received in November. In other action, the board approved a contract with Utah County for public health nursing nurs-ing services in the district. The district's share of the cost is approximately $13,000. |
