These early fish plants pro-u, pro-u, vide dual purposes as they im-prove im-prove the fishing success for Cjj the angler and they provide N more space for the fish at the ; hatcheries which are always overcrowded this time of year. Most of the fish planting done in late April and early f. May involve fingerling size '1 fish into lakes and reservoirs A so these waters can grow the fish to catchable size. This allows al-lows Fish and Game hatcheries to raise more fish and at lower low-er cost than if they had to raise these fish to the 7 to 9 inches if they were stocked as 4 legale. Some year-round waters are now receiving plants of legals t but the majority of these fish ) will be stocked out just prior to the June 1, opening of the 1968 general season.
