He served two years as pres- ident of the Springville Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce and two terms on the City Council. He had also served on the city planning board. He was past commander of the Springville American Le-fp'on Le-fp'on Post and active member for 40 years. Active in the LDS Church he served 10 years on the Senior Aaronie Priesthood committee of Springville Stake and was past president of his Elder's Quorum. He was a member of the Springville Fourth Ward for 21 years and had also been a home teacher and assistant as-sistant ward clerk. He was a high priest in the Springville Stake at the time of his death. He was a member of the Springville Volunteer Fire Department De-partment for nearly 20 years. He was also associated in business bus-iness with the late Bill Phillips Phil-lips at the Phillips Garage. An ardent sportsman, he Played in bowling leagues in (Cont. on back page, Col. 4.) Survivors include his widow, Springville; one son and two daughters, Edwin J. Johnson and Mrs. Earl (Lois) Child, both of Springville; Mrs. Merrill Mer-rill (Helen) Moon, Provo; three sisters, Mrs. Ed (Delia) Hut-ton, Hut-ton, Springville; Mrs. W. W (Inez) Hone, Benjamin; and Mrs. Earl (Freda) Stupech, Los Angeles, California; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren. |
