Show Club enjoys program on art Ladies Literary Club members mem-bers spent an interesting evening eve-ning Tuesday of last week, at the home of Jula Sumsion. President Belva Edwards presided. pre-sided. Following a nicely arranged lunch, Mrs. A. E. Jacobsen introduced in-troduced Prof. Glenn Turner of BYU Art Department as the speaker. In most interesting manner he discussed essentials of art and demonstrated points in two paintings he had brought as well as in pictures and other items about the room. He said among other things, that a picture should be as interesting in-teresting in arrangement as music and that an artist should be able to set a mood. Elements in art he described as line, shape, color and texture. The club collect was read by Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson and a report from the Legislative Council meeting by Mrs. E. T. Crandall. Special guests of the evening were, Mrs. M. N. Moon, Mrs. Bernice Donithorne, Mrs. Glenn Turner and Mrs. Calvin Sumsion, Sum-sion, daughter-in-law of the hostess who with her two children chil-dren are visiting here from Champaign, 111. Next meeting of the club is next Tuesday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m., at the home of Mrs. R. G. Mackenzie at Mapleton. Fowler tells of plan to cut deficit. |
