Work on shade tree protects continues here Approximately 180 shade trees have been trimmed by the city in parking- areas throughout town, according to Margaret Conover, shade tree commission chairman. Grant Whitehead, a member of the commission, was in charge of the work. The trees did not include in-clude those removed for electric elec-tric line clearance, Mr. Whitehead White-head reported. In addition to those trimmed a total of 16 have been removed remov-ed since. January 1, and a total to-tal of 20 stumps have also been taken out. Removal of the' stumps which detracted from the appearance of the streets, were in the areas of oFurth South between Main and First East and on Fourth South from Main to First- West. Removal of the stumps was by a Salt Lake City concern, which took them out without damage to nearby walks or curbs. It has been pointed out that if a number of townspeople townspeo-ple get together to have stumps removed, they may contact con-tact the concern for a special price on the job. Where trees have been removed, re-moved, it is expected that others will be planted and property prop-erty owners are urged to contact con-tact members of the shade tree commission before selecting select-ing the trees or having them planted. Members of the commission are: Mrs. Harrison Conover, Finley Roylance, Grant Whitehead, White-head, Jack Windley, Dean Stewart and Earl Child, representing repre-senting the city council. As soon as the weather permits, per-mits, trees about town will again be sprayed it is reported. |
