John E. Phelps new director Fish and Game The Utah Fish and Game Commission at their April 27 meeting appointed John E. (Bud) Phelps as Director of the Utah State Department of Fish and Game. Phelps has been Acting Director Di-rector since the death of former form-er Director Harold S. Crane in ; January of this year. ; The appointment was unani- j mous by the C ommission and ) now goes to the Governor for i his consent. , ; Bud was first employed by I the Department in 1952. He j took over the lands management j program of the Department in I 1954 and administered this pro-'! pro-'! gram until his appointment as Assistant Director in 1959. 1 He is a graduate of Utah State University where he re-j re-j ceived his bachelor's and mas- I ter's degrees in wildlife man-' man-' j agement.
