Show Chamber, citizens seek city help; theatre support not sufficient Many items were discussed and action taken at the regular reg-ular council meeting held Monday Mon-day night at the civic center i at which all council members, the mayor attorney and recorder re-corder were present. Jack Allen, manager of Allen's Al-len's Super Market and presi- aenc ot the Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, solicitated the support of the city to put over some of their projects such as a new colored brochure of the city and surrounding area, a new neon Chamber of Commerce sign, an art gallery sign, the information booth and other items. It was suggested that the Chamber of Commerce and City Council meet ut a special promotional meeting for further fur-ther discussion and understanding. understand-ing. Citizens ask help A group of citizens from Brookside who live on. the. east and outside perimeter of Brookside Drive are being plagued with water in their basements, especially during the irrigation season. The drain which should take care of this situation has grown full of roots from some weeping willow wil-low trees. Property owners are to be contacted to see if trees might be removed. It was pointed out that it may be necessary to install a new drain which would be charged to property owners under a special improvement district. Theatre project Richard Miner and William Pratt of the Community Development De-velopment Committee reported the citizens had failed to give the necessary support to opening open-ing the Rivoli Theatre to justify jus-tify going forward with the project.
