Show American Legion, VFW mark graves of all war veterans When Memorial Day is observed, ob-served, May 31, every veteran's grave in both cemeteries in Springville will have been decorated dec-orated with a special marker through the efforts of the Springville Post American Legion Le-gion and the VFW Post 5787, it was announced this week. Approximately 175 markers were already on veteran's graves and during the past few days approximately 225 white crosses have been secured se-cured to complete the job of marking graves. Servicemen from both organizations or-ganizations worked sev e r a 1 hours one day this week and will be at the cemeteries Sunday Sun-day at 9 a.m., to complete the job. In addition to the special markers, a tiny American Flag will also designate veteran's graves on Memorial Day. The service organizations including in-cluding the Legion and Auxiliary Auxil-iary and the VFW 5787 will also al-so place the American Flag at the entrance of each cemetery and a wreath of poppies at the base of the flag pole in tribute to veterans of all wars who have passed away. If any graves are missed by a marker, the family is asked to notify a member of the veterans' vet-erans' groups. |
