Show Elks announce '65 scholarship Earl M. Frizzell, Chairman of the Youth Activities Committee, Com-mittee, Provo Elks Lodge, announced an-nounced today that all High Schools in Utah Valley have been advised and received ap- plication forms for entry in the National Elks Scholarship Contest. A total of 145 scholarships, valued at $115,000 will be awarded Nationally, of which 10 scholarships will be allocated allocat-ed to students in Utah. In addition, ad-dition, six scholarships totaling $450 in bonds will be given locally. lo-cally. Only superior students stand a chance in this tough competition, compe-tition, which is intended tc give recognition and assistance to those with talent but not the wherewith to further their education. The nationw i d e competition, which stresses Scholarship Achievement, is now iin its 31st year. It is open op-en to all Senior High School Students and First Year College Col-lege Students who are citizens of the United States. Besides scholarship attainment, entries in the competition will be judged on citizenship, personality, person-ality, leadership, perserverence, resourcefulness .general worthiness wor-thiness and financial need. Winners in the Staate Contest Con-test will be announced at the spring board meeting of ,the Utah State Elks Association, Provo, March 14. Winners of the local contest will be announced an-nounced March 7. Students wishing to enter this contest should contact the local Scholarship Counsellor, Wilby Metcalf, Springville. |
