Show BYU meets Utah on Y court Saturday at 8 Saturday night's basketball classic between the BYTJ and Utah in Provo has been sold out for several weeks. Consequently, Conse-quently, a full house will greet the 8 p.m. tipoff. With both schools sporting identical 1-1 records for league action thus far, the stakes remain re-main high. The winner will take a favorable position in the WAC's scrambled basketball basket-ball race. Both the Beehive schools split on the Arizona swing last week, beating Arizona State while absorbing a stinging sting-ing setback at the hands of a surprisingly effective Arizona team. Since the Ute-Cougar series usually ends in a split, it might be expected that the Cougars will be an ever-so-slight favorite in the first meeting in Provo. They may get an added boost with the return of two players who have been sidelined side-lined with injuries. Guard Jeff Congdon, who has been out with an injured hand, and forward Gary Hill will rejoin the squad for Saturday's game. The fire power of both schools will be tested in the Utah-BYTJ tilt, since both squads like to run and shoot. The Cougars, according to figures fig-ures released, lead the nation in offense with 96 points, while Utah is also listed among the top five offensive teams in the nation. With so much in common, it would not be surprising to see close scores again this season. In last year's split, the Cougars Cou-gars dropped an 89-91 score iin Salt Lake City, then edged the Utes in Provo, 75-72. |
