Show News from the legislature . . . In a report this week from Representative Marvin Warren of this district, he states that the state legislature had accomplished ac-complished a c o n s i derable amount of business during this the first week. He noted that proposed legislation leg-islation changing the present law, whereby the sales tax is distributed to cities based on where money is spent or point of sale, to having the distribution distribu-tion of the sales tax made on a basis of population, is coming com-ing up today for reading. Rep. Warren favors distribution by population as Springville would receive considerably more money mon-ey through such a law. Salt Lake City, Provo and other larger cities where more money mon-ey is spent, would stand to lose. So a fight is expected especially from Salt Lake representation rep-resentation in the legislature, Rep. Warren reported. He is a member of the Public Pub-lic Safety Committee and is presently working on legislation legisla-tion to give cities the right to decide the type of parking which they shold have within the city limits. |
