Show Melvin V. Childs will take Belgium bride September 1 Announcement is being made this week of the engagement en-gagement and approaching marriage of Miss Monique M. Goovaerts, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pierre Goovaerts of Brussels, Belgium, and Melvin V. Childs, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Vadal Childs of Provo, former residents resi-dents of Springville. The ceremony will take place September 1 in the Salt Lake Temple. An open house will honor the couple later in the month. The bride-to-be graduated with honors from Association Associa-tion Stemographique of de Belgique, Ecole Frans Fisher,' Ecole Commerciale Funck. She received high rating forj jury nationale de Belgique Federation and Federation des Societtes de Stenotypistes de Belique. Prior to coming to America, she taught shorthand, typing and business for a year in one of the lycees for boys in Brussels. She was sponsored spon-sored to this country by Mayor and Mrs. Milton G. Jameson of Orem and attended BYU last year. Mr. Childs graduated from Provo High School and served six months active duty with the Army. He met MisS Goovaerts at BYU last year. At school he affiliated with Alpha Phi Omega. He is asosciated with the Provo Flying Service and the Provo Band and Orchestra. He was a member mem-ber of the Springville Civic Orchestra some time ago. Mr. Childs also returned recently from a two-and-a-half-year mission for the LDS Church in France and Belgium. The couple plans to reside in Provo while both attend Brigham Young University. |
