Show Animalzoning issue still going on in Enoch ENOCH The issue of animal zoning in the city of Enoch will soon be put to rest, but not until the residents have one more .opportunity- to-- voice- their -opinions. A public hearing will be Oct. 6 at the Enoch Elementary School at 8 p.m. when the Enoch City Planning Commission Com-mission will present the proposed animal ordinance for public approval. The ordinance then goes to the City Council for final approval. The proposed amendment calls for elimination of the law requiring at least 40,000 square feet on a lot housing animals, thus allowing animals of any kind on residential lots. However, the restrictive . covenants of the subdivisions sub-divisions differ, but govern when they are more limiting. For instance, most subdivisions prohibit the housing of pigs and minks. Also added to the proposed amendment amend-ment is the housing of the animals in faille laniily, .multiple- residential, mixed residential and mobile home districts. The proposed modifying regulation reads "Any stable, corral, chicken coop, pen or run in which animals or fowl are maintained shall be 50 feet from any adjoining residential structure." The new proposal is expected to meet the approval of its residents, according to Chairman Robert Rasmussen after prior rumors brought about intense feelings. Approximately 75 residents turned out at the first public hearing early in August to strongly support lessening the restrictions. |
