Show Help needed to eliminate county's vandalism problem It's summer, and with summer come vandals and vandalism. Thus, we at the Iron County Record would urge anyone that can to please help to eliminate this from the county. First, the vandals. We would ask them to stop and think before shooting through that road sign, before throwing a rock through that window, before writing on that billboard. What are you really doing? You are damaging property that is not yours. If it is private property, somebody will have to pay to have it repaired. If it is government property, the repair bill will be paid out of your or your parents' pockets through tax money. Was that moment of abandon really worth that? Second, those that witness vandalism. As with all crimes, the best way to combat it is to report it. If you are aware of vandalism and any of the details surrounding it, please contact the police. Such cooperation will help to apprehend the people and perhaps restore the property of the victim. It may also teach a lesson and prevent such from happening hap-pening a a second time. Third, to parents, teachers and others in leadership positions. Pass on the word about the harm that vandalism causes. Teach your children, your students. Let them know that it isn't funny, it isn't fun, it isn't macho. It is, simply, a crime. We find this crime to be as repulsive as others. It makes no sense. It does no good. It serves no purpose. pur-pose. Thus, we hope that everyone would do their part to help cut down on this waste in Iron County. |
